Style Academy Hairdressing was created because we love teaching and want to share everything we know and love about hair with you our students, so you are well equipped with good quality skills and knowledge to become the best at hairdressing you can be. The Educators at Style Academy Hairdressing are not only great hairdressers sharing our skills, with the experience we have gained in education, we have become great teachers too. We will make every effort to teach you in a way that is easy for you to learn, meaning, we will adapt our delivery to meet your learning needs, finding different ways to explain a method so that we know you get it. We teach hairdressing because we love the industry, the job and the experiences we have had because of it and we want to share this passion with every student we teach. We care about the hairdressing industry and want to create great hairdressers for the industry to keep the industry strong and highly skilled. Hairdressers are amazing and unique. We are creative strong people who love being in an environment where we can mingle and communicate with people on a personal level, taking care of their hair, making people feel good and beautiful inside and out. It takes a special person to become a hairdresser and we believe that if you are nurtured throughout your learning journey you will grow to understand that hairdressing isn’t just a job. It becomes who you are. Hairdressing can take you in many directions from working on a salon floor or salon ownership, technical opportunities with product companies and education or travelling the world, working in the spotlight of the fashion industry with options such as fashion festivals, photographic and parades or film and television. Where ever your career takes you, Hairdressing will always be a skill that once you know it. You’ll have it for life. Meet Helen Dunne

Helen Dunne always wanted to become a hairdresser and throughout her life found herself in teaching, coaching and mentoring roles helping others achieve their life dreams too.. Since beginning her career Helen has maintained many roles in the hairdressing industry from salon ownership, platform, editorial, fashion runway and technical experience that lead her into sharing her knowledge and skills in education, which is how she has become a leader in her field. Helen undertakes ongoing training to be able to share the most up to date knowledge and skills with her students and absolutely loves seeing her students go on to thrive in this exciting world of Hairdressing.

Meet Karen Reed

After selling my business my career interests turned to teaching/educator, I was employed at a Tafe Institute for 29 years, whilst I continued working in Industry to keep currency. After further studies I completed numerous teaching Certificates and Diplomas to achieve my current teaching qualifications. During my teaching career at a Tafe Institute, I had a role to Co-ordinate the Hairdressing department. I had a wide range of responsibilities, lead staff, guide apprentices, report to employers and management. I had a role to Coordinate study tours for our hairdressing students to Asia and Europe. I trained many apprentices and seniors for Advanced Certificates. I also trained many apprentices for National and International hairdressing competitions with great success, including; 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals.Hairdressers can change someone's day or life in a short time by using our craft and talent. We can achieve a look that changes not only the outer beauty, also inner confidence to help someone accomplish goals or rule the world. It gives me fulfillment imparting my knowledge and expertise onto others. I get great pleasure helping students to be the best they possibly can be.
